GarDel Metal Products is looking for an engineer to layout, develop shop drawings, program when necessary and quote using customer files.
This position has come available from a long term employee retiring.
REQUIREMENTS: Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook
Proficient in reading and interpretation of technical drawings Strong attention to detail
Experience in preparation of sheet metal 3D CAD Models and respective drawings in Solidworks
Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge Creativity and analytical skills Must be able to use 2D AutoCAD software

A Programmer/Estimator for a sheet metal and machine shop translates engineering designs into manufacturing instructions (programming for CNC machines, etc.) and calculates the cost of projects by evaluating materials, labor, and time required for fabrication and installation. This role combines technical design skills with cost analysis to provide accurate quotes and secure contracts for custom parts and assemblies.

• Program development: Creating 2D and 3D drawings and programming CNC machines for sheet metal fabrication and machining processes.
• Software utilization: Using specialized software for 3D CAD, feature recognition, and automated costing to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Collaboration: Working closely with project managers, engineers, sales teams, and suppliers to ensure accurate bids and competitive pricing.
• Shop knowledge: Understanding various shop processes, including welding, fitting, sheet metal fabrication, and CNC machining, is essential.
• Essential Skills & Experience:
• Industry Knowledge:Expertise in sheet metal fabrication, machining, and construction protocols is crucial.
• Analytical Skills:Strong analytical skills are needed to evaluate project requirements and develop accurate cost estimates.
• Software Proficiency:Experience with CAD software for design and specialized estimating software is expected.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to identify potential manufacturability issues and suggest cost-effective alternatives.
