Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Engineer - Geotechnical to join our team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a crucial role in designing and overseeing geotechnical aspects of various construction projects in the region.

  • Conduct and supervise geotechnical site investigations, including soil and rock borings, test pits, and geophysical testing
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
  • Identifies discrepancies in results.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
  • Analyze field and laboratory data to develop geotechnical design parameters
  • Design foundations, earth retaining structures, and ground improvement solutions for a wide range of projects
  • Utilize advanced geotechnical software to perform complex analyses and modeling
  • Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, work plans, and engineering recommendations
  • Review design plans and specifications for compliance with geotechnical recommendations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated engineering solutions

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a preference for local project experience
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical design principles, soil mechanics, and foundation engineering
  • Familiarity with UAE building codes, regulations, and local geology in Abu Dhabi
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage projects, including scope, schedule, and budget
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
  • Innovative approach to tackling complex geotechnical challenges
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of geotechnical engineering

Knowledge of the following software packages or their equivalent would be an advantage.

  • Slope/W or Slide
  • Seep/W
  • Plaxis 2D or RS2 or Sigma/W
  • Repute, Group and LPile
  • PDisp or Settle 3D
  • CPeT-IT
  • CLiq or Liquefy-Pro
  • A 3D FEM would be considered an advantage
