Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineer - Geotechnical - Site Supervision to join our team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing geotechnical aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety on-site. Conduct geotechnical investigations, including soil/rock sampling, borehole logging, test pits, and field/lab testing coordination. Analyze soil, rock, groundwater, and geological data to provide engineering recommendations. Prepare geotechnical reports, foundation design recommendations, and soil parameter evaluations. Perform slope stability analysis, settlement analysis, bearing capacity calculations, and earthwork assessments. Review and approve geotechnical-related submittals, method statements, and material test results. Provide recommendations for ground improvement techniques such as compaction, grouting, vibro-compaction, soil stabilization, and dewatering systems. Assess geological risks including ground settlement, liquefaction, erosion, and soil collapsibility. Monitor site activities related to excavation, foundation works, piling, shoring, and other ground engineering activities. Coordinate with structural, civil, and infrastructure teams to ensure design requirements align with geotechnical conditions. Evaluate and review piling works including bored piles, driven piles, sheet piles, and micropiles. Supervise geotechnical testing activities such as SPT, CPT, FDT, Plate Load Test, and permeability tests. Review contractors’ geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring plans (incl. piezometers, inclinometers, settlement markers, etc.). Ensure geotechnical risks are identified, mitigated, and communicated to the design and construction teams. Participate in geotechnical design meetings, technical discussions, and problem-solving for complex ground issues. Provide technical support during tendering, value engineering, and design review stages. Ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards (e.g., BS, ASTM, Eurocode), and local authority requirements. Prepare technical memos, site observations, NCRs, and follow up on quality requirements for geotechnical activities. Assist in resolving geotechnical issues encountered during construction and propose effective solutions. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering; Master's degree preferred Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification Minimum of 10 + years of experience in geotechnical engineering and site supervision roles Microtuneling experience Proven experience with large-scale construction projects in the UAE or similar environments Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, soil mechanics, and foundation engineering Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant engineering software Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex geotechnical challenges Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, in English In-depth knowledge of local building codes and regulations in Dubai and the UAE Familiarity with international geotechnical standards and best practices Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and adapt to changing project requirements Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety Additional Information About AECOM AECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
