As an Engineer with Operational Services - Green Line Operations Readiness, you will be responsible for identifying, scoping, budgeting, scheduling, tendering and managing capital construction projects associated with maintaining and improving Green Line facilities. Primary duties include:

  • Coordinate and manage capital construction projects, from written specifications, preparing tender documents.
  • Establish project schedules for construction contracts and administer the work performed.
  • Support a variety of recruitment for engineering consultants based on proposals.
  • Establish annual capital budgets, acquire funding, monitor and control ongoing project expenditures and administer all project invoicing/process claims.
  • Collaborate with internal Green Line clients to define and scope unique operational problems, analyze the situation and develop implementation solutions that involve other City of Calgary business units and outside resources.
  • Coordinate external consultants and City staff on the preparation of feasibility studies on Green Line facilities that are used for planning future capital budgets.
  • Design and improve Green Line project management processes.
  • Manage project close-out phase by ensuring the submission of as-builts, record drawings, warranties and manuals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree in Civil Engineering and at least 4 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work Click here for more details.
  • Knowledge of project or design engineering standards within a government or consulting environment.
  • Ability to provide technical and professional advice to both internal and external contractors.
  • Experience with development and maintenance of a Building Condition Assessment program for facilities including mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil systems would be considered an asset.
  • A high degree of analysis using professional thinking and judgement.
    Working Conditions: Occasional site visits may be required.
