KEY REQUIREMENTS:
· Proven experience in quality control, vehicle inspection, or a related role within an automotive, plant, or heavy machine environment.
· Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in distribution tractors or similar automotive vehicles.
· Knowledge of industry safety standards and regulatory requirements.
· High attention to detail and ability to identify defects or faults effectively.
· Ability to interpret technical documents, specifications, and checklists.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide feedback and
coaching where required.
· Proficiency in using inspection tools, diagnostic equipment, and relevant software.
· Ability to work independently while maintaining high levels of accuracy and accountability.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Relevant engineering or technical qualifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent in automotive/plant engineering).
· Previous experience working with heavy vehicles, commercial, plant machinery, or passenger vehicles.
· Knowledge of ISO quality standards and best practises.

We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Heavy Vehicle Quality Inspector to ensure the final quality and safety of distribution tractors before delivery to customers. This role is the final checkpoint in the inspection process, ensuring all pre-delivery and quality checks are thoroughly completed after workshop engineers have conducted defect repairs and routine servicing. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of safety and quality standards, and the ability to provide constructive feedback to workshop engineers.
Responsibilities
· Conduct final quality pre-delivery inspections on distribution tractors to ensure they meet required safety critical and performance standards.
· Verify that all safety critical components comply with specified tolerances and manufacturer guidelines.
· Ensure the accurate completion of relevant inspection documentation, including checklists, test reports, and compliance records.
· Identify and document any remaining defects or non-conformances, ensuring rectification before delivery.
· Provide feedback and coaching to workshop engineers when recurring defects or improvements are identified.
· Work closely with the workshop team to maintain a high standard of quality control and continuous improvement.
· Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance procedures to enhance inspection efficiency and accuracy.
· Ensure compliance with the health and safety regulations throughout the inspection process.
· Maintain and update inspection records to support audit and compliance requirements.
· Support with planned mobile inspection operations in support of the Field Service Team, demonstrating flexibility where required.
· To work with all departments, particularly with projects that are being explored or implemented.
· Undertake any other duties consistent with the purpose of this job or to support the needs of the business.
