DEPARTMENT: Engineering REPORTS TO: Chief Engineer STATUS: Non-Exempt POSITION SUMMARY: The Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining the overall safety, functionality, and appearance of the property. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, responding to repair requests, and ensuring that building systems—including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety—operate efficiently and reliably. The Engineer works closely with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience and a safe, well-maintained environment. RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform and document routine and preventive maintenance in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general facility systems. Diagnose and repair guest room and public area issues promptly and effectively. Ensure fire safety systems, sprinklers, alarms, and emergency exits remain in proper working order. Collaborate with front desk, housekeeping, and other departments to resolve maintenance requests quickly. Participate in emergency preparedness, safety training, and property inspections. Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas while reporting hazards or safety concerns promptly. Assist with seasonal or property-wide projects, such as landscaping support, snow removal, or deep cleaning. Operate tools, equipment, and safety systems in compliance with OSHA and company guidelines. Provide excellent guest service when interacting with guests and respond courteously to maintenance concerns. Perform other duties as assigned to support hotel operations. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry. Previous hotel or facility maintenance experience strongly preferred. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and proactively. Commitment to guest service and safety standards. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and safety procedures. Strong communication and teamwork skills. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in variable weather conditions.
