JOB SUMMARY
The Substation Equipment Monitoring Group is responsible for designing, procuring, and installing monitors on both new and vulnerable electrical equipment assets, which include: transformers, circuit breakers, capacitor banks, generators, and control house batteries. This role will support a group initiative to provide analysis tools that offer insight to electrical equipment operations and help prevent catastrophic equipment failures.
Detailed Job Summary
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
Engineer I: 0 – 2 years of relevant engineering experience
Engineer II: 3+ years of related engineering experience
Basic knowledge of engineering concepts, fundamentals and theory;
Ability to learn to apply engineering theories and concepts to complex problems;
Oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);
Comprehensive knowledge of various electrical equipment is preferred (transformers, circuit breakers, capacitor banks, generators, etc.).
Experience with ET control design and/or physical drawings is preferred.
Experience with SCADA systems, communication protocols, computer networks, and/or cellular modems is preferred.
Experience with various computer applications and programming languages is preferred.
Effective decision making skills;
Analytical and abstract thinking skills; Problem solving skills;
Ability to develop effective planning, project and organization skills;
Ability to develop project management skills and to handle multiple tasks;
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Required degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree):
Bachelor
Required discipline(s): Engineering
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR QUALS DESCRIPTION
For Nuclear purposes only: ANSI 3.1-2014, Section 4.6.1 (must be documented on form HR-AA-101)
Education: Baccalaureate degree in Engineering or related science (Physics, Chemistry, Math, Engineering Technology acceptable if all other pieces of the third prong of the Required Engineering Criteria listed in KSA section are met).
Minimum Experience for the position:
Related experience which shall include 2 yrs; Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 yr.
(Please note: Exception to related experience may be made for Engineer I level as work is completed under direct supervision)
