ENGINEER II: $6,918 - $9,271 PER MONTH

We have an opening for the position of Engineer I/II (Land Development) in our Development Services Department/Engineering Division. Under direction, this position will perform professional land development engineering work.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Municipal engineering design, construction and maintenance.
Construction methods, material practices, specifications and equipment.
Basic design standards for construction projects.
Safe working practices and regulations pertaining to work.
Principles, practices and materials used in civil engineering, including grading, drainage and roadway design.
Practices of traffic and transportation engineering and planning.
Principles and practices of customer service.
Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering, or a closely related field; or possession of an Engineering-In-Training (EIT) Certificate in the State of California or a Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT) Certificate in the State of California and one year (full-time equivalent) entry-level professional experience in civil or transportation engineering, land surveying or utilities construction or inspection.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering, or a closely related field, and one year of professional experience in civil or transportation engineering or land surveying; or possession of an Engineering-In-Training (EIT) Certificate in the State of California or a Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT) Certificate in the State of California, and two years (full-time equivalent) of professional experience in civil or transportation engineering, land surveying or utilities construction or inspection.

Guard and Reserve active duty for training purposes does not qualify for veterans’ preference. Proof of eligibility (copy of DD-214) must be submitted at time of application, or later if the promulgation of the eligibility list will not be delayed. Veterans’ preference credit will only be applied to eligible applicants who attained a passing grade (total score exclusive of credit) on the final open examination.
