Job Description We are seeking a talented Engineer to join our Mobile Engineering team, where you will deliver high‑quality software by developing new features, resolving defects, reducing technical debt, and continuously improving our engineering practices. What you'll be doing: Building clean, maintainable features and resolving end‑to‑end issues by applying thoughtful, well‑considered approaches that ensure we deliver outstanding outcomes to our customers as effectively as possible Understanding, contributing to, and enhancing the team’s testing practices to ensure the highest‑quality customer experience, with a strong emphasis on security, usability and accessibility Participating in code reviews to help ensure we consistently deliver high‑quality, reliable software to our customers Contributing to initiatives that continuously strengthen the team’s security, quality, deployment, monitoring and operational practices, enabling us to release and operate safe, performant and resilient systems in production Engaging actively in developer meetings to keep colleagues informed, encourage knowledge sharing, and support smooth collaboration. Communicating effectively and collaborating continuously with team members to ensure seamless delivery of development activities within the sprint timebox Growing technical and professional capabilities through ongoing, relevant training aligned to the role and discipline Helping the team ensure all customers and stakeholders are treated fairly and in accordance with Legal & General’s principles on Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly Qualifications Who we're looking for: Technology‑focused degree preferred, or equivalent demonstrable software engineering experience Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript with expert knowledge of React and core concepts Practical understanding of clean code, clean architecture and common design patterns Proficiency in software testing, including TDD and applying the testing pyramid Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git/Git Flow and modern release strategies Experience building and maintaining performant, reliable applications using REST microservices, Node.js or JVM‑based technologies Familiarity with application security, front‑end/mobile performance optimisation and agile delivery (Scrum/Kanban) Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team and contribute to maintainable, high‑quality codebases Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you.
