Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re seeking a motivated building science engineer who provides strong expertise in green buildings, compliance related to LEED, Zero Carbon, Well and other rating programs requirements. The fundamental work involves a strong background to understanding the various certificates, EPDs, LCA, embodied carbon, another sustainability attribute that manufacturers have to support rating program compliance.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Support the project team in delivering other company requirements to support our data automation strategies.

The primary deliverables are to develop and validate a process for accurately extracting facts related to the certificates that comply to green and healthy building standards. standard but unstructured documentation. This requires creating sets of documents to extract summaries from; for example inputs and expected output. Technologies employing “AI”/LLM document comprehension will be employed; this role is expected to adjust settings and prompts, then evaluate extraction accuracy and interactively change the settings to maximize accuracy.

  • Identify, organize and catalog the types of global certificates (e.g., EPDs, HPDs, Declare Labels, Cradle to Cradle, etc.) used across green building rating programs.
  • Map certificate fields and required data points for our extraction approach to support the various green and healthy rating systems.
  • Establish data taxonomies and tagging strategies to align with compliance criteria.
  • Collect and Identify what documents will have the greatest varianc

Develop and manage integration of third-party data sources and APIs to aggregate sustainability and certification data for building materials. The primary purpose for using API data is to primarily aggregate, integrate, and distribute detailed sustainability attributes and product certification data for building materials and technologies. Key activities include:

  • Aggregating Data from Multiple Sources: Accessing sustainable building products by pulling in data both directly from their manufacturer’s brands and from third-party environmental certification bodies through h automated processes. This often occurs via APIs, allowing the project to be incorporated into a database with the latest certifications, attributes, and product details in near real-time.
  • Integrating and Distributing Data Through APIs: this will allow for a strong integration capabilities which provides APIs to architects, engineers, developers and other users. This allows external systems, tools, and to securely access data for various uses, such as compliance reporting, procurement workflows. Applying this technology enables users to programmatically search, sort, and discover products that meet specific sustainability criteria.
  • Enabling Third-Party Catalogs and Platforms: For example, the API data conduit will allow for robust platform that centralizes material transparency, standardizes this information. The API is used to pull “passport data” embodied carbon, circularity, water etc. structured product and certification data) from external libraries and feed it directly into the EcoSpex platform, streamlining data exchange for end users and product manufacturers
