The Mechanical Engineer in Training (EIT) plays an important role for both the engineering and business support side of Halyard. This position will interact with all technical levels of the organization.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- 2 to 4 years’ experience in minerals processing with familiarity with equipment, plant layout, flow sheets and PIDs.
- Experience preparing tender packages and performing calculations / analysis for equipment and facility design.
- Prior experience in engineering consulting preferably in the minerals processing industry is preferred.
- Exposure to 3D modelling and drafting software is preferred.
- Energetic and pro-active attitude.
- Highly proficient written and verbal communication skills required.
- Strong software knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Accustomed to a fast-paced environment with constantly shifting priorities.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in recognizing scope of authority and protecting confidential information.
- Team player, collaborative and resourceful, able to build and manage strong relationships.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare scope of work, technical specifications, lists and calculations for studies and detailed engineering projects.
- Work with designers to prepare and review layout and project drawings in a timely manner.
- Liaise with internal multidisciplinary teams, external clients and vendors to coordinate technical information while keeping to project timelines and standards.
- Under guidance of senior engineers, become familiar with the full scope of mechanical and piping design with increasing level of contribution to projects.
- Travel to client and vendor sites when required for field work such as inspections and data collection.
- Work with the discipline engineers and project managers to support their projects as directed.
- Provide additional engineering support and add input when required.
- Gain an understanding of the details and aspects of Halyard’s business related to mining, minerals processing and management.
