Reporting to the Supervisor, Maintenance Engineering, the Mechanical Engineer is a critical role in developing and executing engineering and capital strategies for the site to maintain safe, reliable, efficient operations. The role plays an integral part in the success of the facility by supporting initiatives that allow us to meet safety, environmental, financial, and capacity utilization targets. Success in this role requires exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities. Individuals who demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation along with outstanding interpersonal, communication, planning, and organizational skills will thrive and contribute greatly to team and organizational goals.
This position is located in Redwater, Alberta, Canada and is not available for remote work.

Responsibilities
  • Own mechanical design of plant changes through the MOC process.
  • Analyze maintenance history and failure data to prioritize issues and opportunities.
  • Develop preventative and predictive maintenance strategies and tactics for fixed and rotating equipment.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis investigations.
  • Conduct equipment assessments during maintenance and inspection opportunities for repair quality, fitness for service, and life expectancy evaluation.
  • Specify pressure equipment repairs
  • Develop equipment specifications and review equipment purchases and installations to ensure that equipment is built to recognized practices
  • Work with Site Trades Groups, Planners, Engineers, Inspectors, and Projects Groups
  • Support department long-term maintenance plan and asset management goals
