About New Porgera New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea and owns the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province. The Porgera Gold Mine will employ nearly 3,000 Papua New Guineans at full production, and over the last 30 years of life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports NPL is currently seeking a qualified and experienced individual to join the Capital & Projects team as an Engineer – Mechanical – Engineering Projects – Capital Projects. (236773) About the role Reporting to the Senior Engineer – Engineering Projects, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing mechanical engineering projects, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective completion of all tasks related to mechanical systems and infrastructure within the mining operation. In this role, you will. Plan, design, and execute mechanical engineering projects, ensuring they meet safety, quality, and cost objectives. Provide technical expertise in mechanical systems, including maintenance, upgrades, and new installations. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including contractors, other engineers and production and management teams, to ensure project timelines and goals are met. Maintain engineering and production related documentation, such as procedures, work methods, costing and Bills of Materials. Conduct risk assessments, monitor project progress, and report on performance against objectives. Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and relevant regulations. Maintain a high level of health, safety and environment awareness and comply with the NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures. About You To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field. IEPNG accreditation will be well regarded Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the mining industry. Strong understanding of mechanical systems, project management, and engineering principles. Proven ability to lead and manage engineering projects from inception to completion. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
