Position Summary
The Engineer/Project Manager is accountable for overseeing the efficient and timely execution of engineering projects, ensuring that design and development activities align with the company’s strategic goals and customer expectations.
The Engineer/Project Manager is accountable for guiding the project team to deliver projects on time and within budget, ensuring the seamless execution of design and development activities.
The Engineer/Project Manager is accountable for resource management, budgeting, and allocation of technical expertise to meet project requirements.
The Engineer/Project Manager is accountable for fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and streamline manufacturing processes.
Key Performance Metric (KPM):
1. Ontime execution of project milestones
2. Adherence to Project budget requirements
3. Creating high quality deliverables that meet customer expectations.
Key or Essential Functions
The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:
· Furthering business development by working with sales to provide solutions for customer needs and providing technical sales, as well as develop visual aids and drawings for assisting in the sales efforts.
· Plans and formulates aspects of research and development proposals such as objective or purpose of project, applications that can be utilized from findings, costs of project, and equipment and human resource requirements.
· Oversees key projects, processes and performance reports, data analysis and reporting of findings.
· Working with the operations, quality and production teams on quality and process improvements as related to new product development.
· Play an active role in the development of new products using design for manufacture, assembly, and serviceability methodologies.
· Develop and maintain company engineering and drawing standards.
· Serve as administrator of the company’s PDM vault.
· Project manage as required for Engineering and product development activities.
· Help establish the activities and priorities of the Design / Draft activities.
· Identify and develop cost reduction projects.
· Confer with management, production, sales, and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
· Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
· Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
· Direct, review, and approve product design and changes.
· Coordinate with management and sales team to identify and resolve issues regarding budget and delivery.
· Stay informed of current projects, production workload, and production processes. Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
Secondary Functions
· Work as a cooperative team member in the organization
· Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Job Qualifications/Requirements
Education/Experience:
· a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
· a minimum of 5 years related experience in roles of increasing responsibility.
· or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (8+ years related experience and proven performance in a production environment may be acceptable in lieu of a degree)
Certificates/Licenses:
· P.E. license desired, but not required.
Skills/Abilities:
· Demonstrated experience leading new product development from concept, through production and validation.
· Demonstrated experience in project management.
· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
· Proficient in Solidworks modeling practices or other relevant CAD software for various manufacturing methods, as well as, use of ERP software
· Experience with PDM Vault administration
· Ability to develop long-term plans and programs and to evaluate work accomplishments.
· Electrical design and programming understanding and capability a plus
· Possess a good understanding of metal construction and machine operations, manufacturing processes, equipment, and tools.
· Organized and adept at creating logical electronic filing practices.
· Knowledge of ISO9001 compliance standards
· Strong and proficient written and verbal communication skills required. Must be able to professionally communicate with sales representatives, engineers, internal team members and customers.
· Ability to read and efficiently navigate manufacturing drawings and specifications.
· Familiarity with WISHA safety standards for a manufacturing facility
· Willing to work additional hours as necessary to meet deadlines or fix problems.
· Executes Continuous Improvement projects by training and guiding company employees in specified events.
· Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
· Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
· Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies,
Physical Abilities:
· Work is performed primarily in a combination of an office setting and manufacturing setting.
· Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to:
§ stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
§ occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
§ lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight.
