Responsibilities

Thiess is currently recruiting a Project Engineer for our Eva Copper Mine Project, located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People, 75 kilometres north of Cloncurry and 95 kilometres north-east of Mount Isa.
This role is being offered as a max-term contract through to October 2027, providing a great opportunity to be part of an exciting new project!
We strongly encourage locals in Northwest Queensland, including members of the Kalkadoon community and other First Nations people, to apply for this role on a BIBO basis. Depending on the successful candidate’s location, the role can also be offered on a FIFO roster from either Townsville or Brisbane, with on-site accommodation provided.
Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, you will work collaboratively to deliver high-quality plans and designs for our civil works.

Key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Design civil construction components for both permanent and temporary works.
  • Coordinate with clients and/or subcontractors to ensure work is carried out in accordance with design drawings, specifications, and scheduled dates.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Manager to improve processes and clarify design requirements.
  • Ensure civil operations are executed in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Perform quality management representative duties.
  • Provide daily reports on progress, non-compliance, and work delays to the Construction Manager.
  • Conduct regular job site inspections to assess performance and compliance with project standards.
  • Actively monitor the work environment for potential hazards and address risks.
  • Support quality and safety audits.
  • Assist with contract management tasks.
  • Contribute to estimating and tendering processes.
  • Implement technical and safety requirements for the project.
  • Oversee daily quality control procedures.
  • Monitor daily production, costs, and schedule adherence.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of work practices.
