Description

The Senior Engineer, (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) works with other engineers and managers on defining test requirements, using company standard procedures or developing measurement systems to determine requested information, as well as coordinating Technicians and Designers to assist in completing requested testing. For training and development purposes, assignments may include some work that is typical of a higher-level position.

Standard Duties:
Thorough understanding of Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) principles.
High attention to detail, with respect to test setup, measurement, and repeatability.
Troubleshooting of rotating mechanical systems and low voltage measurement systems.
Working with signal conditioning and data acquisition equipment.
Programming of engineering software (MATLAB) to facilitate data reduction and analysis.
Reducing and analyzing timing drive systems. This includes rotational as well as linear vibrations working in the frequency and time domain.
Occasional travel to customer or other BW sites to collect test data. Expected travel is approximately two times per year with each trip being 1 week in duration. Domestic travel is expected.
Effectively communicating results and issues verbally as well as in written report form.
Willingness to train others on basic principles of NVH.
Design and development of systems to measure specified quantities.
Completion of requested tests within a reasonable timetable.
Coordinate test fixture design and execution of tests using a Designer and Technician(s), respectively.
Reduction and analysis of acquired data.
Responsible for the accurate communication of test results and issues with supervisor, engineers, technicians, and test request originators.
Safety and Health - Responsible for completing required safety training, reporting and correcting any unsafe practices as appropriate, completing work activities in a safe manner, and complying with safety and health requirements for respective position.
Additional Information:
Travel is occasionally required, up to 10% of the time.

Wear PPE when appropriate in designated campus areas.
Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs. on occasion.

EducationExperience
BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, Master’s Degree preferred.
5 years’ experience
Experience in related field is required.
Experience in a production environment is preferred.
Proficient understanding of rotating mechanical systems
