Job Description We're looking for a seasoned Engineer - Smart City with 10+ years of urban master planning experience to join our organization in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative smart city solutions that enhance urban infrastructure and improve quality of life for residents. Drawing on your extensive background in urban master planning projects, you will drive cutting-edge initiatives that integrate technology, sustainability, and strategic urban planning to create connected, efficient, and responsive city systems at scale. Lead the design and development of comprehensive smart city infrastructure systems, including IoT networks, sensor integration, and data management platforms, leveraging master planning expertise to ensure long-term scalability Conduct advanced data analysis on city systems to identify optimization opportunities and provide strategic insights for urban planning, resource management, and infrastructure investment decisions Direct cross-functional collaboration with urban planners, architects, technology specialists, and municipal stakeholders to implement integrated smart city solutions aligned with master planning objectives Oversee feasibility studies and comprehensive technical assessments for smart city initiatives and large-scale infrastructure projects, incorporating lessons from previous master planning engagements Develop and maintain strategic system documentation, technical specifications, implementation guidelines, and best practice frameworks for smart city deployments Monitor and optimize system performance and efficiency across deployed smart city infrastructure, identifying continuous improvement opportunities and emerging optimization strategies Ensure full compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and sustainability requirements in all project implementations, maintaining alignment with municipal master plans Provide technical leadership and strategic troubleshooting for deployed smart city systems, mentoring junior engineers and technical teams Champion emerging smart city technologies and industry best practices, positioning the organization at the forefront of urban innovation Lead project planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and portfolio management for multiple smart city initiatives, ensuring strategic alignment with urban master planning goals Qualifications Minimum 10 years of professional experience in civil, electrical, or systems engineering with documented expertise in urban infrastructure and smart city systems Substantial experience in urban master planning projects, including strategic planning, feasibility analysis, and large-scale implementation Documented experience designing and developing smart city infrastructure systems, including IoT networks, sensor integration, and data management platforms at city or district scale Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques for interpreting complex urban datasets and providing strategic insights Proficiency with CAD software, system design tools, and urban planning software platforms Documented experience with IoT systems, sensor networks, and connected device integration within urban environments Project management experience with proven ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, complex deliverables, and large-scale urban initiatives Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail in technical documentation and system specifications Knowledge of cloud technologies, data management systems, and infrastructure optimization Understanding of sustainability and renewable energy systems integration in urban planning Documented experience in systems integration and urban infrastructure optimization across multiple city-scale projects Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to lead cross-functional teams including urban planners, architects, and technology specialists Preferred: 10+ years of experience in master planning and strategic urban development initiatives Preferred: Experience with smart city platforms, urban management software, and integrated city systems Preferred: Background in renewable energy systems or environmental sustainability initiatives within urban contexts Preferred: Knowledge of Middle Eastern urban development initiatives, Saudi Arabian regulations, and local smart city frameworks Additional Information About AECOM AECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
