Description
Northpower is seeking a motivated and technically capable Engineer – Transmission Lines to join our Transmission Lines team. This role offers the opportunity to work across both office and field environments, supporting the planning, design, delivery, and maintenance of critical transmission line infrastructure. About the Role: In this role, you will provide technical advice and support to maintenance and project teams, ensuring engineering solutions are practical, safe, and compliant. You will be responsible for developing and managing delivery programmes, preparing and reviewing engineering documentation, and ensuring all project and contract documentation is accurate and submitted on time. The role includes completing engineering checks such as rigging loads and construction load calculations, developing construction methodologies and work plans, and supporting the pricing of planned maintenance works. You will also assist with construction frameworks through to project completion, write and peer review technical reports prior to client submission, and ensure the correct and timely preparation of drawings and reports for tenders. Field-based activities will include transmission line surveys, structure and hardware inspections, earth resistivity testing, and other site investigations. You will collect and analyse data, perform complex calculations, graph results, and prepare charts and tabulations, while building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support effective communication of construction works and connections. About You: To be successful in this role, you will have three or more years’ experience in the electricity industry, ideally within a transmission or distribution environment. You will be comfortable working across both office and field settings, including site inspections and investigations. Strong computer skills are essential, particularly in MS Excel, along with the ability to analyse data and present technical information clearly. Experience using surveying equipment such as a theodolite and undertaking site surveys would be advantageous. About Us: Northpower is an electricity and fibre network provider for Whangārei and Kaipara, with more than 60,000 connected customers. We are one of the largest multi-utility contractors in New Zealand, servicing the needs of clients in transmission, distribution, generation, fibre, renewables, and commercial sectors. We have a reputation for excellence and innovation, providing commercially viable solutions for electrical and telecommunication design, construction, and maintenance requirements. Apply Now: This is a great opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking engineering team using modern technology to improve how transmission assets are inspected and managed. You’ll have real ownership, the chance to influence how work is done, and ongoing opportunities to grow your skills and career. If you’re ready to make an impact on critical infrastructure and be part of a team that values innovation, safety, and collaboration, we’d love to hear from you.
