Description
Transport Planner role is critical in effectively managing workloads between the transport teams in WSP UK and the GCC. This individual will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality support to WSP United Kingdom (UK) and the supervision of discipline project delivery from the Transport planning GCC. Responsibilities Support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of transport planning projects across the business. Opportunities to contribute to a range of projects, including business cases, transport assessments, strategic network studies, development control, consultations, active travel strategies, public transport studies, research, travel behavior change initiatives, etc. Assess the transportation impacts of proposed developments and provide recommendations for infrastructure improvements, prioritizing active and sustainable transport modes. Fulfill a technical role across multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring a challenging and engaging workload. Conduct technical reviews to maintain the highest quality standards in project deliverables. Prepare high-quality, client-facing technical reports and documentation for active travel and transport planning schemes. Understand project contracts and scope, ensuring deliverables align with client expectations. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients and colleagues, collaborating across teams and disciplines to deliver joint projects effectively. Ensure the timely and budget-conscious delivery of high-quality project outcomes. Identify, assess, and manage technical project risks in collaboration with the line manager. Contribute to the company’s sustainability initiatives through transport planning strategies. Actively participate in team and project meetings, providing valuable insights and expertise. Take responsibility for line management duties, including mentoring, coaching, and supporting the career development of junior team members. Key Competencies / Skills Mandatory skills Excellent report writing and strong analytical skills. Experience supporting and mentoring junior staff. Desirable Skills Transport Modelling Knowledge Exposure to software like SATURN, VISUM, VISSIM, LinSig, Junctions10 for transport analysis. Machine Learning & Predictive Analytics Use of Python or R for advanced statistical modelling and forecasting. Qualifications M. Tech/ M. Plan in related subject such as civil engineering, transport engineering or transport planning. Member or working towards associated Professional body membership.
