Description
What’s the role? We’re looking for an Engineer for the Payments Projects Team at Westpac. The Payments team is largely responsible for the delivery of projects relating to domestic, International and High Value Payments. In this role, you will design, develop, and implement complex enterprise-level microservices-based applications within the payment's domain. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Program Managers, Software Engineers, DevOps Specialists, and Integration Architects, to deliver industry-leading solutions for Westpac and its customers. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and experience in financial services, particularly in payments systems and integration. The role is based in Sydney and will require the candidate to attend the office 3 days a week. What do I need? Minimum 6 years’ experience in service engineering within the payment's domain. Proven experience delivering solutions using Kafka, MQ, Java, and PI/Microservices. Strong knowledge of SWIFT MT messaging and ISO 20022 standards. Hands-on experience with payment applications (e.g., SWIFT, AMH, Fusion GPP, NPP) and sanctions checking systems (e.g., NetReveal, Firco-Soft). Proficiency in Oracle DB, SQL, MQ, and batch integration tools. Exposure to Cloud computing platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure. Ability to work in Agile and Waterfall environments within large, complex organizations. Excellent communication skills to engage with technical leaders and business stakeholders. Graduate qualifications in Information Technology (minimum). Why join us?
