About the Role At Firestorm, we are building autonomous aerial systems that operate where they are needed most, when they are needed most. Firestorm is seeking an Engineering Aide to support our Engineering team drive the execution and coordination across the full development lifecycle of our unmanned aerial systems. As an Engineering Aide at Firestorm Labs, you will report directly to the SVP of Engineering and provide critical hands-on support to engineers across multiple disciplines. This is a hands-on role that blends technical documentation, test support, lab work, and project management assistance in a fast-paced environment. You’ll help turn innovative designs into reality by supporting prototyping, testing, data collection, and coordinating cross-functional engineering efforts. What You’ll Do Collect, organize, and maintain technical and test data, including lab results, material tests, and flight test measurements. Maintain and update engineering documentation such as schematics, drawings, block diagrams, flowcharts, and technical reports. Conduct basic analyses of test data under guidance, ensuring dimensional and model accuracy. Assist with hands-on tasks including test setup, instrumentation, and recording measurements during flight tests or prototype evaluations. Revise and format technical reports, diagrams, and test documentation as directed. Support engineers across multiple disciplines on prototyping, assembly, and testing of flight vehicles and components. Provide project management support, including tracking tasks, timelines, and deliverables, coordinating cross-functional activities, and ensuring smooth communication across teams. Support configuration control and document version tracking across engineering teams. Collaborate across engineering disciplines to ensure smooth prototyping, flight test operations, and project execution. Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the SVP of Engineering and cross-functional initiatives. Required Qualifications Associates degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or related field Experience in supporting an Engineering department, either professionally, or academically. U.S. Citizenship required due to ITAR regulations & the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance Strong attention to detail and ability to coordinate across multiple teams and projects. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment. Experience in project coordination or support. Ability to operate in fast paced, iterative development environments Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or related field 2+ years of experience in an Engineering role Technical background in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or systems engineering preferred. Hands-on experience with lab equipment, prototyping, or assembly work is a plus. Acquainted with DoD or Aerospace Work Environment Based at our Headquarters in San Diego, CA Ability to work in-office & flexible hours as needed Compensation US Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 USD The posted salary range reflects an estimate based on a variety of compensation factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, education, certifications, specialized skills, geographic location, and business needs.
