Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future. Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security. We are seeking highly experienced professionals to support critical projects within Engineering, Technical and Materiel Logistics (ETML) Division, CASG. The role requires a senior SAP Engineering and Asset Management (EAM) Specialist who can support operational outcomes by providing subject matter expertise across the EAM module of the Defence ERP environment. Successful candidates will be required to operate as a trusted advisor to ETML stakeholders, delivering pragmatic, scalable solutions to support the ongoing work in delivering the new Defence ERP system. What You’ll Do This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including: Provide expert guidance across SAP Engineering & Asset Management (EAM), including master data integrity, governance, and alignment to Defence ERP (S/4HANA). Lead or support data migration, ETL, and transformation activities, ensuring high‑quality asset, maintenance, and engineering data. Engage with ETML stakeholders to translate operational needs into pragmatic SAP‑enabled solutions, supporting process mapping, improvement, and change management. Contribute to operational readiness through accurate asset hierarchies, maintenance plans, task lists, BOMs, and support frameworks like RCA and RCM. Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, providing insights, supporting leadership decision-making, and contributing positively to team culture and knowledge sharing. What You’ll Bring Extensive experience with SAP ERP, particularly SAP EAM master data, data governance, and ETL/data management within Defence or asset‑intensive environments. Strong understanding of maintenance and engineering business processes, supported by proven business analysis skills including requirements gathering and solution design. Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and operate confidently in secure, regulated environments. Exposure to S/4HANA transformation or sustainment, Defence SAP data structures/DERP program, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma Green Belt). Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with added value from experience in Supply Chain, Commercial & Procurement modules in S/4HANA. Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Baseline or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
