Description

ENGINEERING ASSISTANT

£25,000 to £30,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 6B)
This is a hybrid role, where you’ll be splitting your time between coming into our Manchester office (1-2 times a week), traveling to different sites (1-2 times a week with colleagues) and working from home the rest of the time.
Looking to kick-start your career in engineering? We’re on the lookout for a motivated and curious Engineering Assistant to join our Co-op Property Engineering team. This is a brand-new role, and one where you’ll have the chance to shape it, grow with it, and make a real impact from day one.
You don’t need to be an expert. if you’ve got a positive attitude, a passion for learning, and a knack for getting things done, we’ll support you to build the technical skills on the job.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Help us keep our engineering standards up to scratch – reviewing, updating and managing them across the business
  • Get stuck into technical sign-off for projects, making sure everything meets our engineering standards
  • Spot trends and opportunities to improve how we do things, especially in our investment workstreams.
  • Supporting cost-saving initiatives by coordinating value engineering efforts
  • Visit construction sites with the team to carry out quality inspections
  • Explore new ideas and innovations – from supplier visits to market research – helping us move towards our sustainability and net zero goals
  • Build your profile and relationships across the business – we’ll give you the time and autonomy to grow and develop in your own way

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO HAVE

  • A degree or equivalent qualification – doesn’t matter what subject, we’ll teach you the technical stuff
  • Some experience in a fast paced work environment, using data to make informed decisions
  • Great organisational skills; you’re able to juggle multiple tasks, using office 365 and Co-pilot
  • Confidence in communicating and working with lots of different people
  • A full UK driving licence would be handy – we’ve got pool cars for site visits if needed
