Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Buyer to join a leading machinery manufacturing business in Leeds that is currently going through a period of significant growth, with record sales and strong demand for its equipment across the UK and internationally.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in engineering procurement, supply chain, or technical buying to play a key part in supporting this expansion. You’ll be sourcing and purchasing critical components and materials for complex machinery build projects, while helping streamline stock control through just-in-time delivery systems.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Source, negotiate, and purchase mechanical, electrical, and fabricated components for bespoke machinery and capital equipment.
  • Work closely with production, projects, and engineering teams to ensure materials are available to meet build schedules.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and BOMs (Bills of Materials) to order the correct parts.
  • Develop strong supplier relationships, negotiating best cost, lead times, and quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain just-in-time delivery systems to reduce on-site stock levels.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues relating to quality or delivery.
  • Support continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives within the supply chain.
