JOB DESCRIPTION

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Engineering Conveyance Design Manager – Water & Wastewater for a full-time position that can be based from any of our Greater Toronto Area offices (Markham or Mississauga). The candidate for this position will work on municipal drinking water and wastewater conveyance projects and related infrastructure including planning and feasibility to design and construction.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead high performing design teams in the delivery of complex multidisciplinary water and wastewater conveyance projects.
  • Work successfully within a team environment and communicate effectively with other project team members and clients.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to build a strong relationship of trust and understanding.
  • Work closely with the Program leadership team and program delivery managers and other discipline engineers as a key player in leading the design delivery.
  • Establish processes for project teams to standardize design workflows, and project methodology to complete projects within established schedules.
  • Oversee and review technical reports, calculations, and undertake design decisions.
  • Assist with and review preparation of technical specifications, tender documents, Construction cost estimates and detailed design drawings.
  • Coordinate and perform technical quality reviews and constructability reviews of deliverables.
  • Liaison with the program project teams and program leadership to coordinate design status, project risks, permitting coordination, stakeholder engagement, for multiple projects.
  • Conduct periodic site visits during design and construction
  • Provide continuity through complete project, from design through construction.
  • Provide guidance to technical staff and Project Delivery managers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree +10 years of related experience specifically in design and construction of municipal water and wastewater conveyance projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience working with multi office teams and remote resources in a fast paced environment
  • Previous experience overseeing and coordinating all technical aspects of capital works projects over +$10 Million CAD.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • 17+ years of related experience specifically in design and construction of municipal water and wastewater conveyance projects
  • Post-graduate degree in water or wastewater treatment.
  • Registered as a P.Eng. in the province of ON an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills as well as effective report writing.
