GOLDMAN SACHS BANK EUROPE SE (GSBE) DATA GOVERNANCE OFFICER

Data Governance is a strategic focus of Goldman Sachs, and you will be a key addition to the GSBE engineering team and responsible for Data Governance in GSBE, working closely with the senior management in GSBE and the firmwide Data Governance Program.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance).
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related field.
  • Knowledge:
  • Understanding of data governance principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with data quality management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of data management tools and technologies (e.g., data catalogs, data lineage tools, data quality monitoring tools).
  • Awareness of relevant data regulations (e.g. BCBS 239, Basel III).
  • Familiarity with banking operations and data requirements is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Basic SQL skills for data analysis.
  • Certifications (Preferred): Data Management certifications (e.g., DAMA CDMP) are a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Data Governance Framework Support: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the bank’s data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Data Quality Management: Monitor and analyze data quality metrics, identify data quality issues, and work with data owners and stewards to develop and implement remediation plans.
  • Data Stewardship Support: Support data stewards in their roles and responsibilities, providing guidance and assistance in data-related activities.
  • Data Policy and Standards Enforcement: Monitor compliance with data governance policies and standards, and report any deviations to the Data Governance Manager/Lead.
  • Data Documentation: Assist in the development and maintenance of data dictionaries, data catalogs, and other data documentation.
  • Data Issue Resolution: Participate in the investigation and resolution of data-related issues, working with relevant stakeholders to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Data Training and Awareness: Assist in the development and delivery of data governance training programs to promote data awareness and understanding across the organization.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Support efforts to ensure that data management practices comply with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., CCPA, BCBS 239).
  • Collaboration: Work closely with IT, business units, risk management, and compliance teams to ensure alignment on data governance initiatives.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports on data governance activities, data quality metrics, and compliance status for management review.
  • Data Lineage: Create and maintain data lineage documentation to understand the flow of data across various systems.
