Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and stores management systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft. Job Description The Engineering Delivery Manager role is an Engineering Leadership Team role responsible for enabling and ensuring successful delivery of a portfolio of engineering bids and development projects against agreed scope, schedule, quality and budget targets. For this role, the portfolio of projects will typically be internal work-packages delivering hardware/processor modules that are commonly used across the wider business. As such, the role holder will also act as a Product Line Architect. This role acts as the bridge between engineering teams, project management, and stakeholders, ensuring alignment on priorities, resource allocation, and quality standards. The role holder will also be a Line Manager within the Engineering functional organisation. In this role you will: Own end-to-end delivery of the allocated portfolio of engineering work-packages, leading the Core Engineering team to ensure milestones are met and risks are managed proactively. Ensure monthly Engineering Status Reviews are held, supported by objective and subjective data to understand execution status, and to identify project delivery risks and issues. Escalate critical issues promptly and lead resolution efforts, including risk mitigation strategies. Communicate progress clearly to senior leadership and customers. As the Product Line Architect, ensure maximum re-use and commonality where possible, and maintain a technical road-map for each of the core modules. Ensure compliance with engineering process, standards, safety and certification requirements. Develop and maintain delivery plans, schedules, and resource forecasts. Balance workload across teams and manage capacity constraints. Own and deliver assigned actions in support of defined Engineering Capability & Capacity development plans. Click here for the full job description Qualifications Demonstrable & significant experience in successful leadership and delivery of complex avionics processing and hardware modules for military avionics (or equivalent experience). Demonstrable strong understanding of the challenges associated with leading development of complex hardware processing solutions (e.g. Systems, Hardware, Software, Firmware, Mechanical etc). A good understanding of the development engineering considerations relevant to Avionics/Airborne systems. Demonstrable experience leading technical/engineering engagements with customers and suppliers. Demonstrable experience in leading and developing team members, ideally with experience of mentoring and coaching for performance. Experience in identifying, defining and delivering continuous improvements is desirable. Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng or equivalent) is desirable, but not essential. We actively support employees in attaining CEng status. Additional Information This role has a salary of between £65,000 and £90,000, dependant upon experience plus our flexible benefits package. We are open to this role being spent with time working from home and in the office (hybrid - typically 3 days working in office) on a weekly basis or fully in our offices.
