Responsibilities

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

  • Leads the definition, planning, and execution of new product development projects to ensure that the scope is clearly defined, risks are appropriately identified, and plans are put in place to carry the project through to completion.
  • Develops an annual budget and audits/manages cost performance accordingly for the design team.
  • Manages design team staffing to ensure functional capability and capacity aligns with business plans and objectives and distributes workload among team personnel to properly support projects and objectives.
  • Develops and implements individual, project, and team level measurements to encourage continuous improvement in the growth of individuals for future opportunities and the overall performance of the project and design teams.
  • Directs the development of products within a Ditch Witch product lines including knowledge of design criteria and know-how for these products.
  • Ensures that products are developed with common approaches, are compliant with industry & regulatory standards, and are consistent with the long term vision for the product line.
  • Works to foster information exchange required between the different design disciplines.
  • Develops and/or adapts new technologies to support the design of innovative, differentiated, and profitable products for current and future customer applications.
  • Ensures that company and department processes and practices are followed by personnel on the design team and within the projects being worked on which includes overall project documentation and information as well as the design output documentation and information.
  • Recommends changes to processes and practices where improvements can be made.
  • Identifies and documents ideas and designs for intellectual property where appropriate.

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biosystems Engineering w/ Mechanical emphasis or closely related engineering discipline, advanced technical degree a plus.
  • Manager I – 5+ years’ experience in an engineering role. 2-3 years’ experience working in an engineering design role with application to off-highway equipment.
  • Manager II - 8+ years’ experience working in an engineering role. 5+ years’ experience working an engineering design role with application to off-highway equipment. 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong project management skills.
