The Supply Chain Platform (SCP) plays a pivotal role in this journey — enabling end-to-end supply chain visibility and redefining how we design, build, and deliver digital logistics solutions. From the farm to your refrigerator, or the factory to your wardrobe, SCP powers solutions that bring reliability, agility, and innovation to our customers. As a Software Engineering Director for SCP, you will report into the Senior Engineering Director and lead the technology vision, strategy, and execution for critical supply chain engineering initiatives. You will not only drive delivery excellence but also inspire, develop, and scale high-performing engineering teams to build next-generation supply chain products and platforms. Roles and Responsibilities Provide technology leadership and strategic direction to engineering teams delivering on SCP initiatives. Own end-to-end accountability for engineering deliverables, from architecture and design to development, deployment, and operations. Lead and scale multiple teams (including Senior Engineering Managers and Scrum Teams) while ensuring alignment with Maersk’s technology vision. Define and evolve engineering best practices, ensuring high standards of code quality, automation, performance, and scalability. Partner with product management, design, and platform teams to shape the technology roadmap and release goals. Drive technical architecture discussions across supply chain platforms, enabling composable and scalable microservice-based solutions. Champion cloud-native and event-driven architectures, leveraging APIs, messaging (Kafka), and large-scale data processing. Foster a culture of innovation, inclusion, and psychological safety, empowering engineers to take ownership and grow as technical leaders. Represent Maersk externally by publishing, presenting, and participating in industry conferences. Hold budgetary and financial responsibility for delivery areas while balancing business outcomes with technical investments. Key Tech Skills 14+ years of industry experience, including leading large engineering organizations (40+ engineers) with distributed, high-performing teams. Proven experience with UI stacks (React, Angular, Vue) and backend technologies (Java, .net). Strong expertise in microservices architecture, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and event-driven systems. Experience with datastores (SQL, NoSQL) and integration patterns for large-scale systems. Familiarity with open-source adoption and contributions. Strong background in Test-Driven Development and building solutions that meet strict performance, scalability, and resilience requirements. Knowledge of engineering metrics, process maturity, and continuous improvement frameworks (OKRs, KPIs, retrospectives). Who You Are Experienced in building and leading high-performing, geographically distributed teams with strong collaboration and psychological safety. Able to drive end-to-end architectural discussions across large organizations, influencing stakeholders and aligning cross-functional teams. Skilled at navigating ambiguity by seeking diverse perspectives and making informed, data-driven decisions. Passionate about mentoring, coaching, and growing technical leaders within your teams.
