WHAT YOU’LL DO The Engineering Director provides leadership, direction, and oversight for key strategic engineering activities within AVI-SPL. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality engineering design, project delivery, and technical standards that align with company objectives. The Director collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, reliable, and cost-effective AV and collaboration solutions while driving process improvements. Day-To-Day Responsibilities: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the engineering team across multiple locations in alignment with key strategic inititives set by the VP of Engineering. Oversee engineering design standards and ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company guidelines. Partner with sales, project management, service, and operations teams to support pre-sales engineering, solution design, and project execution. Drive strategic continuous improvement efforts in engineering processes, documentation standards, and resource management. Monitor project workloads, resource allocation, and project timelines to ensure successful project delivery. Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors and technology partners to stay current with evolving technologies. Page 2 of 3 Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement department goals, objectives, and strategic initiatives. Support recruiting, hiring, and onboarding processes for engineering staff. Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and professional development plans to ensure employee growth. Act as an escalation point for complex technical or project issues requiring executive involvement. Maintain alignment with industry standards, certifications, and emerging trends in AV and collaboration technologies. Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed to support the team and organization, ensuring flexibility in adapting to evolving priorities and objectives. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Must-Haves: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience. 10+ years of progressive experience in AV/IT systems integration, design, or engineering roles. 5+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams in a multi-site environment. Extensive knowledge of AV systems, control systems, videoconferencing, unified communications, and collaboration technologies. Strong organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with clients, vendors, and internal teams. Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to analyze technical challenges and develop practical solutions. Strong financial acumen related to engineering project costs and resource management. Commitment to developing and coaching team members to achieve professional growth. Nive to Haves: CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I or other industry certifications strongly preferred. PMP certification or formal project management training preferred. Experience working with global or enterprise customers. Familiarity with emerging collaboration technologies, cloud platforms, and hybrid work solutions. Experience with resource management tools and ERP platforms related to engineering and project workflows. Ability to travel as needed to support business objectives.
