JOB DESCRIPTION

The Engineering Estimator will be responsible for transforming internal scope checklists into formal quotes using Excel and quote templates. This role involves collaboration with the sales team to define project scopes and relay this information to the estimating team for quote development. The position is dynamic and responsive to the sales funnel, with quote preparation time ranging from 1–2 hours to several days for complex projects.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Background in mechanical engineering or as a technologist.
• Experience in estimating.
• Familiarity with financial math.
• Proficiency in spreadsheet tools like Excel.
• Ability to understand complex project scopes, read drawings, and comprehend technical documentation.
• Knowledge of HVAC, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, blueprint reading, RFQ, design analysis, and mechanical engineering.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Willingness to consent to a background check.
• Ability to obtain a Level 1 Security Clearance with the Government of Canada.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in engineering estimation or similar.
• Minimum of 3 years’ post-graduate professional work experience in Canada in a relevant field.
• Proven ability to interpret complex requirements, drawings, and specifications as part of the sales process.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and estimating software.
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Collaborative team player with the ability to work autonomously.
• Demonstrates integrity, adaptability, and a strong team-oriented mindset.
• 3–5 years estimating multidisciplinary engineering solutions from concept through turnkey delivery.
• Degree or diploma in Engineering, CET, or a related technical field.
• Credentials in commercial or estimating disciplines.
• Experience with HubSpot or similar CRM platforms.
