Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Geologist to provide expert geological and geotechnical support for transportation infrastructure projects across New Jersey and New York. Primary functions include performing various geotechnical engineering services related to construction of tunnels, highways bridges and other transit related developments.
The role is available immediately.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering (with a geotechnical focus), or a related field plus six years of related experience.
  • Valid US Drivers License.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Soil/Rock Mechanics, or Hydrogeology.
  • 8 years of related geotechnical experience, with demonstrated experience in underground structures; (tunnels, shafts, caverns, rock reinforcement, grouting, ground improvement, etc.
  • Utilize computer software programs such as: Dips, RocSlope, RocFall, and Swedge.
  • Valid New York State Professional Engineering or Professional Geologist license.
Responsibilities
  • Perform field reconnaissance and geological mapping to identify hazards such as landslides, subsidence, soil liquefaction, or unstable slopes.
  • Perform inspection of SOE reinforcement and rock mass grouting.
  • Conduct geological and geotechnical site investigations, including soil, and rock.
  • Develop geological models, cross-sections, and maps to support transportation design and construction.
  • Analyze geotechnical and prepare detailed technical risk assessments and geologic reports.
  • Collaborate with civil and structural engineers, planners, and NJDOT (or similar agencies) to integrate geological findings into transportation project designs.
  • Ensure projects comply with environmental and safety regulations, including federal, state, and local transportation standards.
  • Oversee fieldwork logistics and supervise drilling operations, test pits, groundwater instrumentation, probe hole drilling and permeability testing.
  • Oversight of geotechnical instrumentation including deformation and vibration monitoring.
  • Preparation of field reports including geologic maps, in-situ testing, probe hole and boring logs, etc. documenting daily construction activities; The employee will also perform complex calculations to document the acceptability of the completed construction and will prepare necessary reports and drawings as required. or geotechnical monitoring equipment.
  • Support construction monitoring, ensuring that geological recommendations are enacted during build phases.
  • Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders, including NJDOT representatives, project managers, and regulatory agencies.
