Role Description:     We are seeking an Engineering Geologist to join our Structures, Geotechnical and GIS team in Scotland. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across our business, providing technical advice and assessment for our built environment projects in the energy, water, highways and rail sectors. The role will include applying geotechnical engineering principles to develop effective solutions for the design of shallow and deep foundations, earthworks, retaining solutions, as well as the design, management and supervision of ground investigations. This role provides a dynamic mix of feasibility studies, design, construction quality assurance and client engagement, providing opportunities for professional growth and leadership within the geotechnical engineering sector. Role Accountabilities: As an Engineering Geologist, you will be an integral member of our UK-wide geotechnics team, responsible for interpretation of geological and geotechnical data across a wide variety of projects.  You will be tasked with undertaking geotechnical designs in accordance with relevant design standards and guidelines, as well as developing detailed ground models and writing technical and interpretative reports. You will be supported by a collaborative national team with a range of technical backgrounds. Your Day-to-Day Processing and interpreting data from site investigations (e.g., borehole logs, trial pits, laboratory test results, in-situ testing, groundwater monitoring). Assisting with the development of geological and geotechnical ground models for feasibility studies, design, and construction support. Presenting outputs using a range of geotechnical and geological software tools, including Openground, Leapfrog, Slope/W, Repute, Wallap, AutoCAD, and MS Office applications. Contributing to the preparation of desk studies, factual and interpretative ground investigation reports, geotechnical design reports and risk assessments. Undertaking site walkovers and geomorphological mapping as required by project needs. Multi-disciplinary working with colleagues across the business Qualifications & Experience: BSc qualified (or higher) in Geology, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a similar discipline, or equivalent. MSc in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline (desired). Chartership, or working towards chartership with the Geological Society or Institution of Civil Engineers Chartership, or working towards chartership with the Geological Society Ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects to tight deadlines and budgets. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good attention to detail and a practical approach to problem solving. A full UK driving licence (preferred).
