Description
Engineering Geologist (Level 4) – Transport & Water | Christchurch Help deliver investigations and practical ground advice for Canterbury and New Zealand infrastructure projects. Field-focused role with real ownership and senior support to grow your interpretive skills. The candidate will support site investigations, geology interpretation, engineering geology applications and ground risk management alongside senior geologists and geotechnical engineers. What you’ll do Site supervision of ground investigations: geotechnical drilling, cone penetration tests, test pits, mapping and field management. Manage lab schedules, sample custody and AGS-compliant data management. Develop engineering geological models. Report preparation and geotechnical analysis including basic liquefaction assessments, settlement checks and slope data prep. Assist earthworks/design support and construction monitoring. Communicate clearly with contractors, clients and the team. What you’ll bring Degree in Geology/Engineering Geology. 2–5 years’ experience. Ground investigations experience (familiarity with both soil and rock logging), targeted testing and QA of factual outputs. Experience with GIS applications, LeapFrog, Rocscience, gINT/OpenGround (or similar). Clear communicator with a strong HSE mindset; NZ licence. Local Christchurch/Canterbury geology exposure or strong regional understanding. Ready to bring ideas to life?
