You’ll be part of a team that’s driving innovation and safety in the energy sector. You’ll gain hands-on experience in engineering projects that support nuclear safety and operations. What You’ll Be Doing During your Engineering Industrial Placement, you’ll work within the Engineering Department at either Heysham 1 or 2. Past students have led projects to simplify operations, delivered mitigations in support of nuclear safety cases and worked with engineers to troubleshoot a number of live issues. They’ve also helped maintain condition monitoring programmes and produced reports underpinning equipment reliability. This placement offers practical learning in a professional environment, supported by experienced teams and mentors. You’ll apply academic knowledge to real industry contexts, with the opportunity to put your overalls on and go and have a look at the plant yourself, while completing degree-relevant modules and gaining insight into engineering within the energy sector. Your Work Location You’ll be based on site at either Heysham 1 or 2 Power Station (Lancashire), within the Engineering Department. Who You Are To be eligible for this EDF industrial placement, you need to be on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a bachelor’s degree (2:2 or higher) in Engineering.
