Responsibilities

HE WHAKAMĀRAMA MŌ TE TŪRANGA MAHI | ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re modernising New Zealand’s metro rail networks to support faster passenger journeys, increased freight capacity, and enhanced safety. As Engineering Inspections Engineer, you’ll be part of our Network Readiness team – a future-focused group leading intelligent, preventative infrastructure care.
In this role, you’ll plan and deliver engineering field inspections across the Metro networks, analyse asset data from various sources (track inspections, EM80, Amberg survey, corrugation trolleys, GPR readings, etc), and document conditions to inform maintenance and renewal work. Your insights will shape the reliability and safety of our tracks for years to come.
Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you’ll support our transformation goals – from automation and asset management to network optimisation.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Field experience in track maintenance and renewals
  • Knowledge of railway operations and track asset management
  • Previous experience in Project or Field Asset Engineering
  • Strong data analysis skills across inspection tools (e.g. EM80, GPR, ACFM, Amberg trolley)
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering, infrastructure, and safety teams
  • A tertiary qualification in a related engineering discipline
  • Excellent organisational and documentation skills
  • A commitment to safety and continuous improvement
  • Adaptability and sound decision-making under pressur
