JOB DESCRIPTION

AECOM is seeking an Engineering Intern to be based in our Burnaby office.
This position will start in September 2025.

The job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • A willingness to be versatile and a team player in contributing towards a variety of water resources projects.
  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Developing solutions and assessments using hydraulic modelling techniques.
  • Collect and analyze data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Prepare engineering-related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
  • Develop solutions for routine technical problems with limited scope.
  • Provision of contract administration services.
  • Work under the supervision of a project engineer or senior-level team member.
  • Technical report writing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Water Resources Engineering or related field and must have completed at least 3 years of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the master’s degree are eligible to apply for this position. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their Bachelor’s Degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstration of high-quality English report writing skills.
  • Proficient in using spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software.
  • Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as Hec Ras, SWMM, GIS, CADD and other Hydrologic/Hydraulic models).
  • Experience with project management concepts and principles.
