Job Description AECOM is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team in Madrid office. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of fire protection engineering while contributing to the safety of our built environment. This position is expected to begin in Autum/Winter 2025. Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in engineering, design, and infrastructure projects that make a real-world impact. Interns work with cutting-edge technology, learn industry’s best practices, and collaborate with experienced professionals in a globally recognized firm. The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to: Assist in the design and review of fire protection systems for various building types Support senior engineers in conducting fire risk assessments and safety audits Help prepare technical reports and documentation for fire protection projects Participate in site visits to observe and learn about fire protection system installations Contribute to the development of fire safety plans and emergency procedures Assist in researching and staying up-to-date with the latest fire protection technologies and regulations Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure fire safety compliance in building designs Support the team in creating and maintaining project documentation and drawings Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering and must have completed at least three of years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for this position. Fluent English and Spanish languages (verbal and written) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Preferred Qualifications: Basic knowledge of fire protection systems, safety codes, and standards. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Familiarity with CAD software and fire protection engineering tools is a plus. Eagerness to learn and develop skills in fire protection engineering.
