This internship is planned for the spring, summer, and/or fall semesters 2026, with the potential for multiple rotations. This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside our flight test division, supporting the development of current and next-generation aircraft. Interns will be given several projects and will be expected to contribute to a variety of tasks supporting our engineering team. The intern will be a key contributor to our Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and flight test teams. Primary responsibilities will include using tools like MATLAB and Python to analyze complex data sets from flight tests and simulations, as well as supporting the creation of test plans, procedures, and objectives for developmental flight testing. The intern will also be introduced to the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Simulation (AFSIM) to develop and test complex mission scenarios focused on stealth technology and electronic warfare (EW). All projects will require the intern to manage and complete several concurrent tasks, working both independently and collaboratively. Interns will be expected to prepare and deliver technical presentations and summaries to the engineering team and leadership. Qualifications: · Currently enrolled in a BS or MS degree program in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer), Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related STEM field · Expected graduation date of 2027 or later (targeting students available for 2026 internships) · Minimum GPA of at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale · Strong communication and public speaking skills · Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks · Must be a US Citizen Desired Skills: · Strong data analysis, scripting, or tool development skills using Python/MATLAB · A strong interest in military aircraft, flight testing, and/or electronic warfare · Familiarity with object-oriented programming (e.g., C++, C#) which support AFSIM's underlying architecture · Familiarity with 3D modeling, simulation, or game engine environments (e.g., Unity) · Knowledge of software development best practices and code versioning tools (e.g., Git) Clearance: Ability to obtain/maintain a US government security clearance.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the development of current and next-generation aircraft by analyzing complex data sets from flight tests and simulations. They will also assist in creating test plans, procedures, and objectives for developmental flight testing.
