Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES: * Develop engineered documents (drawings, calculations, weld maps, design checking, routings, etc) that reflect the needs of the customer and comply with all applicable codes and specifications. * Monitor and report status of project from inception to shipment and report any delays to the Lead Engineer. * Communicate with the customer to resolve discrepancies in specifications and keep customer advised of project status. * Coordinate (either directly or via the customer) the involvement of any necessary outside agencies and include receipt of any necessary document approvals, coordination of on-site inspection visits, etc. * Assist Lead Engineer with special projects including Engineering process improvements, customer design services, etc. * Welding:  Desired to have a basic understanding of the welding processes utilized at Samuel. This would include application of processes, process characteristics, and representation of necessary welds with appropriate symbols. * Materials: Desired to have knowledge of materials utilized. Selection of optimum materials, knowledge of material specifications and part numbers, and ability to accurately assign necessary materials to relevant engineering documents.  * Fabrication: Will be trained on Samuel’s fabrication methods. Basic capabilities and limitations of shop equipment should be utilized to determine to most effective means of product fabrication. * Code Requirements: Will be trained to accurately interpret and comply with ASME code along with a wide variety of customer and outside agency specifications. * Computer Knowledge: Must be fluent with basic operation of word processing and spreadsheet programs.  * Calculations: Must have basic knowledge of statics, mechanics of materials, and be able to complete appropriate design calculations. Must become proficient with the use of pressure vessel calculation software. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: SOFTWARE/EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE: * Must have proficient knowledge of CAD (Inventor preferred) * Microsoft Office Applications *  IFS or similar ERP system *  Desired to have basic understanding of shop equipment and machinery capabilities. ROLE REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet team expectations. * Understanding and support of company policies and procedures.      * Ability to understand and abide by all safety rules and regulations to perform the job. * Must be able to read blueprints. * Must be in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field or associate's degree in mechanical field. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Job is mostly in an office environment which will be mostly standing and sitting.  There will be some requirement to be on production floor and be in a work environment. Responsibilities
