Description

The Role:

  

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to lead a team of 9 in building and scaling an automated patching factory to keep 250+ microservice APIs secure, up to date and vulnerability free.


This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining Java, Spring Boot, API engineering, AI and automation to improve software quality and security at scale.

  

Key Responsibilities:

  

  • Lead a team of 9 engineers to build and scale the automated patching factory.
  • Lead the pilot and scale the solution across 250+ APIs.
  • Develop reusable regression testing and automated quality frameworks.
  • Automate Spring Boot patching and vulnerability remediation using Renovate.
  • Complete the remaining Spring Boot 3 to Spring Boot 4 migrations.
  • Drive AI-first engineering practices across the Integration Centre of Excellence.
  • Establish engineering standards across development, testing, security and CI/CD.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across APIs, AI and automation.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering, SRE and support teams.
  • Support critical incidents, releases and Level 3 technical issues.
  • Mentor engineers and drive continuous improvement.
  • Transition the patching factory to Level 3 support upon completion.

  

Skills & Experience:

  

  • Extensive software engineering experience, particularly in integration.
  • Deep hands-on Java and Spring Boot experience.
  • Experience leading Java-based microservices in complex environments.
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes and cloud-based microservices.
  • Knowledge of event streaming and high-throughput, low-latency integration.
  • Practical experience using AI coding assistants across the SDLC.
  • Ability to create effective AI prompts, workflows and engineering guidance.
  • Experience establishing technology and engineering standards.
  • Strong knowledge of testing, CI/CD, DevOps, observability and production support.
  • Experience across system integration and Agile delivery.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience working across onshore and offshore teams.
