Company Description Anglo American Australia In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in manganese, as well as copper exploration projects under way in North West Queensland. Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. Job Description As a key member of our Site Leadership Team, the Engineering and Maintenance Manager will be accountable for the delivery of the annual maintenance and engineering targets, oversee statutory obligations with zero harm to employees and contractors, including technical advice to the General Manager and Site Leadership Team on means to optimise equipment availability, performance and reliability. This role will require you to provide effective leadership of the engineering and maintenance team to develop and implement plans, monitor performance, and complete work activities in accordance with corporate policy and procedures. Key responsibilities include: Consistently apply Safety & Health principles in all site interactions and take full ownership for safety on site Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, planners, reliability specialists, supervisors and tradespeople, managing significant operating and capital expenditure budgets Lead the development and implementation of the five (5) year maintenance and engineering plan Create and implement rolling three (3) to twelve (12) month plans that optimise availability and reliability of mining equipment Manage and execute a significant capital investment program which includes equipment overhaul, life of mine infrastructure and new equipment procurement Develop and drive a continuous improvement mindset within the operation based on the principals of the reliability engineering and defect elimination Oversee the statutory compliance of electrical and mechanical engineering functions at the mine Monitor performance against plan and lead the maintenance and engineering team to identify risks to delivering the plan Visibly lead by example and set clear, consistent expectations, including consistent use of systems, symbols and behaviours aligned to Anglo American values Qualifications Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical or related discipline) Managed engineering and/or maintenance function in a similar heavy industry business 7 years’ experience in asset management, ideally within an underground coal mining environment Development of systems, strategies and training, including management of safety and health management systems Proven track record of problem solving with measurable results Demonstrated experience contributing to a team of professionals to deliver against set targets Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to influence and achieve buy in from key stakeholders Additional Information Full-time permanent position based at Grosvenor Mine, Moranbah Monday to Friday staff roster with potential flexible work options Competitive salary package and annual incentive programs Residential, FIFO (company funded) & DIDO options Subsidised accommodation and company funded camp options provided Discounted gym membership Anglo American company benefits What we Offer When you join Anglo American, you can expect to enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package.
