Primary Role This role will be the primary owner's representative for engineering design (especially for process design) of Solenis' major chemical capital projects. He/She will ensure that the engineering design aligns with company's proprietary technologies, operational requirements, and the highest standards of safety and efficiency. Reporting to the Associate Engineering Director of APAC, he/she will lead the engineering design efforts (especially for chemical process), manage the interface with owner's process technology colleagues and site production colleagues as well as engineering contractors, and serve as the engineering and process coordination central point throughout the project lifecycle. Key Accountabilities Process Design and Engineering Leadership (30%): - Act as the primary owner's expert on process design and engineering management, defining the process design basis and ensuring it incorporates company's proprietary technology and know-how together with process technology colleagues. - Develop and manage the process design package together with process technology colleagues for the inputs to engineering design institutes, ensuring all process requirements, production capacity, and product quality specifications are met. - Provide technical guidance and make critical decisions on process design issues, balancing optimization with project constraints. - Champion process safety from the design phase, advocating for inherently safer design principles, ensure design activities adhere to company's EHS standards and local regulatory requirements. Technical Integration & Optimization (15%): - Leverage in-depth knowledge of company process technologies to guide the design, ensuring optimal process configuration and equipment selection. - Drive value engineering initiatives to optimize capital spending and future operating costs without compromising process integrity or product quality. - Collaborate with process technology team and production team to seamlessly integrate new or improved technologies into the project design. Engineering Contractor Management & Technical Review (30%): - Lead the technical interface with the engineering contractor's design team, especailly for process engineering. - Review and approve key design deliverables from the engineering contractor, especially for process, including PFDs, P&IDs, Heat and Material Balances, Equipment Datasheets (for reactors, vessels, pumps), and Process Control Philosophy, as well as process calculation. - Ensure the design complies with all relevant safety standards (e.g., PSM, HAZOP, LOPA) and environmental and occupation &hygiene regulations. Engineering Coordination & Support (15%): - Lead other engineering disciplines to ensure a fully integrated and cohesive design. - Support the Project Manager in procurement activities, providing technical evaluation of vendor proposals. - Assist in PSM activities such as HAZOP, PSSR, and management of change (MOC) . Commissioning & Start-up Support (5%): - Support the development of commissioning, start-up, and operating procedures. - Provide expert troubleshooting during plant start-up and performance testing to ensure design parameters are achieved. Plant Support (5%): - Support plants for revamping engineering, trouble shooting and optimization. - Besides above larger project engineering management, also lead project execution for plant small capex invest projects (>$250K). - Develop, maintain and standardize engineering specifications for AP region's plant engineering design. Qualifications Education:Bachelor’s degree or above in Chemical Engineering Experience:10+ years of process design and engineering management experience within the chemical process industry, in engineering company and/or the owner company. Essential: Direct experience with the process knowledge specifically in chemicals for papermaking industry, cleaning agents, disinfectants, or related water treatment chemicals. Demonstrated experience on capital projects with a value exceeding RMB 150 million, through the entire project lifecycle (Pre-phase evaluation repoorts, FEL, through start-up). Strong background in Process Safety Management (PSM), HAZOP leadership, and PFD, P&ID development. Knowledge:Expert-level knowledge of chemical engineering principles as well as process system calculation capability (unit operations, hydraulics, etc.). Proficiency with process simulation software is prefer (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS). Experience key equipment slection, such as tank, pump, agitator, etc. Proficiency with process simulation software is prefer (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS). In-depth understanding of international and Chinese engineering standards and design codes. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions in both English and Mandarin.
