Description:

The Engineering Manager - CNC Programming & Automation is responsible for leading and managing the manufacturing engineering and CNC programming teams to ensure the successful design, development, and implementation of projects related to highly complex Landing Gear components and systems. This role involves overseeing all engineering and programming activities, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Automation and Technology Manager will also be responsible for mentoring and developing the engineering and programming teams, managing resources, driving innovation projects, identify proper technologies and implement continuous improvement across both shop floors. Strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage complex projects are essential. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in advanced manufacturing technology, process improvement techniques.
This position is based on a 40 hour per week schedule typically Monday through Friday but could flex based on business schedule.

Main responsibilities:

  • Manage both Engineering and Programming teams for Kitchener and Cambridge locations.
  • Managing the design, implementation and optimization of automated systems
  • Manages the new part process development.
  • Develops and manages the Methods department budget, long and short-term plans/goals.
  • Oversees the quotation process.
  • Lead the automation/robotics steering committee between several locations
  • Responsible for Engineering department compliance with AS9100 quality system requirements.
  • Liaises with customers and outside agencies with regards to engineering issues.
  • Liaises with management team and internal customers with regards to engineering issues.
  • Involved in special projects and supplier involvement.
  • Involved in the new machine acquisition process.
  • Develops and maintains departmental infrastructure to ensure optimal resources and support are provided to internal and external customers.
  • Monitors and develops the engineering and programming staff’s skills.
  • Leading technical teams and coordinating cross departmental teams
  • Finding new opportunities to lead process improvement initiatives
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other duties assigned by leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace/Mechanical/Automation/Manufacturing related fields and minimum of 5 years of engineering management/supervisory experience in CNC manufacturing environment or equivalent.

  • Post secondary education within a relevant field and 8-12 yrs. engineering management/supervisory experience in CNC manufacturing environment or equivalent.
  • Familiar with machining techniques
  • Up to date on the emerging technologies within the industry
  • Understanding of methods/programming tools and concepts (CATIA, Vericut etc)
  • Ability to take a dynamic role in the decision-making processes.
  • Strong project management, leadership/supervisory skills.
  • Ability to coach and mentor staff to develop and maintain and strong and dynamic team.
  • Understanding of AS9100 and its impact on the position requirements.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and customers in a positive and professional manner adhering to all company policies, procedures and health and safety requirements.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $85,899.00-$130,000.00 per year
