See yourself in our team You’ll join the Service Management Modernisation (SMM) Program, a strategic initiative driving DevSecOps transformation across the bank. Our mission is to simplify and automate operational processes, empowering service owners and engineers to focus on innovation. You’ll work closely with a newly formed squad embedded in SRE Engineering, collaborating with a Product Manager and engineers across business units to solve real-world challenges through automation, data, and AI. The Engineering Manager will lead initiatives to automate and optimise governance control processes across critical IT domains. This role is responsible for identifying opportunities to eliminate manual operations and delivering scalable solutions that enhance compliance, efficiency, and resilience. Key Responsibilities Actively seek out and prioritise initiatives that reduce manual effort in governance controls. Drive end-to-end delivery of automation solutions aligned with organisational standards and regulatory requirements. Implement solutions to streamline processes for areas such as but not limited to: End of Support (EOS) lifecycle management Configuration Management Database (CMDB) accuracy and integrity Change Management workflows IT Asset Management (ITAM) processes Leverage AI and machine learning to solve complex problems and enhance automation capabilities. Lead and mentor engineering teams to deliver high-quality outcomes. Partner with stakeholders across Technology, Risk, and Operations to ensure alignment and adoption. Champion best practices in automation, governance, and engineering excellence. Tech skills You will need to be across a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all deeply but experience or exposure to some of these will set you up for success in this team: Skills & Experience Software Engineering: Expert in at least one programming language (e.g., Golang, TypeScript, JavaScript, Python). Golang is preferred. Strong experience with modern software development practices, including source control and CI/CD using tools such as GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy, or similar. Strong public cloud experience in AWS with diverse experience across services Experience with the full software development lifecycle and Agile delivery practices Excellent operational experience in observability (Logging and monitoring) Proven ability to provide mentoring and technical leadership to engineers. Strong presentation, verbal communication, and written communication skills. Experience leveraging AI/ML technologies to automate processes and solve complex engineering challenges.
