Job Summary This is an exciting opportunity to step into a pivotal leadership role with ConocoPhillips Australia as the next Engineering Manager, helping to shape the future of our Downstream Operations. Position Overview ConocoPhillips’ Australian headquarters are located in Brisbane. Our focus is supplying Australian customers with natural gas and international customers with liquefied natural gas. We do this through our 47.5 percent interest in the Australia Pacific LNG joint venture, one of the largest producers of natural gas in eastern Australia. ConocoPhillips Australia also operates the Australia Pacific LNG liquefied natural gas facility near Gladstone. We are also an exploration company, with ongoing exploration occurring in the Bowen and Surat Basin in Central Queensland and new exploration in the Otway Basin along the southern coast of Australia to identify natural gas reserves for supply to Australian customers. As a member of the ConocoPhillips (COP) Australia Pacific LNG Downstream (DS) Operations team, this position will contribute to the development of an organization which embraces a commitment to best practices and operational excellence while achieving zero injuries, incidents and maintaining standards for achieving excellence in operational performance. Reporting to the Downstream Operations Manager, the Engineering Manager will lead a team of multi-discipline engineers and engineering technical authorities to provide the organization with fit for purpose, risk appropriate and value adding engineering support to solve both tactical and strategic APLNG Facility issues. The role manages the individual engineering disciplines to ensure safe and efficient operation of the DS facility by providing technical support to all other functions of the DS Operations team. This position is based in Brisbane with travel as required. Key Accountabilities Lead a team of engineers based both in Brisbane and Curtis Island to provide fit for purpose, risk appropriate multi-discipline surveillance and optimisation engineering support for issues of any time duration. Mentors, provides coaching and technical knowledge sharing to engineering team members to develop their technical and leadership competencies. Ownership of the ABU Technical Authority Program including governance and ongoing continuous improvement. Accountable for development & implementation of the Process Safety management system including the facility safety case, management of change (MoC) programs, risk management, performance standards and safety critical element programs. Implement engineering management systems and work programs to ensure compliance with the Australian and Queensland regulatory requirements. Sponsor multiple technical services contracts with strong emphasis on driving performance, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Ensure safety and value in design by maintaining technical standards and specifications including those related to engineering design, certification, and verification with a strong link with Corporate Engineering to ensure alignment with corporate practice and standards. Contribute to corporate technology improvements through knowledge sharing, root cause analysis, standard development, and industry networking. Key Responsibilities Understand relative work priorities, delegate work as appropriate, tactical versus strategic to ensure the correct technical role (Curtis Island and Brisbane based) is provided and then delivering fit for purpose engineered solutions. Provide technical multi-discipline engineering leadership for risk and priority assessment of facility originated opportunities. Provide oversight and multi-discipline engineering function leadership support to all phases of facility changes. Develop, manage, and implement the ABU Graduate Program. Provide technical support and leadership to the effective planning and execution of facility shutdowns, including scope identification, challenge, development, and handover for execution. Support the engineering team to identify, select, and implement data integration and advanced analytics projects. Drive development and implementation of integrated operations engineering practices with Curtis Island based operations driving business and operational efficiency. Lead business technical support with the focus on surveillance, troubleshooting, and engineering controls. Drive continuous improvement practice in all key technical engineering process and programs. Liaise and consultation with APLNG and partners through Operations Leadership forums and technical committees to ensure strong alignment and communication of DS operations activities into the APLNG value chain. Develop and direct implementation of engineering management support strategies; establish scope of work for contract tenders, and direct technical bid evaluation.
