Description

ABOUT THE TEAM:

You will lead two teams of engineers responsible for building and supporting SumUp’s Risk & Compliance ML and Data Platform, as well as Operational Efficiency Services. We prioritize scale, efficiency, and high availability, aiming to create global, adaptable services that can be easily expanded into new markets.
In collaboration with the Product Manager, you will define objectives and key results (OKRs), shape the team’s vision, drive technical execution, contribute to architectural designs and code reviews, provide mentorship and people leadership, and champion operational excellence to enhance the merchant experience.
The ML and Data Platform team develops and maintains a scalable, end-to-end data and ML platform using AWS, Kubernetes, Spark, and MLflow—primarily for AML and fraud prevention—while also supporting broader use cases across SumUp. Future initiatives include integrating advanced capabilities such as graph-based features, entity embeddings, and generative AI.
At SumUp, you will be part of a diverse and globally distributed team, working alongside engineers across Europe and Latin America to build inclusive, impactful solutions.
