Responsibilities

THE ROLE

As a Manager of the Data Platform, you will lead a team of talented data engineers & business intelligence engineers in building and maintaining our data platform, which includes real-time microservices & our complex data warehouse. In both cases, our stakeholders are both internal and external and require high quality & robustness due to their business critical impact.
You will be responsible for defining the technical roadmap and translating it into sprint by sprint bases. You should advocate for ensuring system reliability and security, and fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and people leadership to deliver a secure and dependable experience for our users. You will work closely with product, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to translate business needs into scalable and resilient platform solutions.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of Data Engineering & Business Intelligence engineers, providing guidance on career growth and technical best practices.
  • Drive the technical vision and strategy for the data platform, including architecture, tool selection, and process optimization.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, fault-tolerant, and secure cloud data infrastructure.
  • Ensure the team upholds high-quality standards by participating in code reviews, defining release processes, and monitoring system performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering managers and senior leaders to align team goals with company objectives.
  • Manage a roadmap, balance technical debt with new feature development, and report on team progress and impact.
  • Be an active member of the on-call rotation to support League’s infrastructure and ensure system availability and integrity
