Do work that matters The Technology Early Career Chapter is a well-established team that exists to build a pipeline of talent to tackle the technology skills shortage in Engineering, Cyber Security and, Data and Analytics at CommBank. Our Chapter consists of 420+ Chapter members including Technology Graduates (in Engineering, Cyber Security and, Data and Analytics), Interns, Associates, Co-Op Students, and Indigenous Academy Cadets. See yourself in the team The Engineering Manager, Early Career Talent reports to the Executive Manager and is based in Adelaide. You will be the people leader for a cohort of around 10 engineering graduates, supporting their capability development within the Chapter over a 12-month program. You are an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in coaching and developing early-career engineers in a matrix environment. Alongside people leadership, you are expected to actively contribute to squad delivery, applying your engineering expertise to real work while modelling strong technical and delivery practices. You bring a genuine passion for developing talent, building capability, and creating high-performing teams. You have proven stakeholder management experience and are committed to delivering a consistent, positive experience for Chapter members, giving and receiving feedback with care, clarity, and respect. As a Chapter Lead, you will be responsible for: Line management of a cohort of ~10 FTE Building a high-performing Chapter that develops and converts early career talent into skilled technologist in CommBank Providing people leadership and management of performance and talent processes including on boarding, hiring, skill building, career development, coaching, giving and receiving feedback, performance management and team engagement for Chapter members Partnering with stakeholders across HR and Technology including Technical Managers, Graduate Program Team, Workforce Planners, Performance Leads, HR Business Partners and Group Practice Leads with the shared goal to develop and convert technology early career talent into skilled technologists Contributing to quarterly planning for the Early Career Chapter Area Owning and delivering OKR initiatives that support the early career function Implementing and reinforcing consistent ways of working across the Chapter through standardised tooling, process, frameworks, and methodologies Collaborating with your peers in the Early Career Chapter Area to ensure consistency across the Chapter Area and foster a positive people experience for Chapter members with care and respect Contributing to the uplift of the Chapter’s maturity through engaging subject matter experts and by driving and fostering collaboration to create a culture of sharing, learning and problem solving Contributing to a coaching community by uplifting coaching capability within the Early Career Chapter Area and with Technical Managers across the technology Business Unit Facilitating continuous improvement and growth mindset through seeking data and feedback to inform and support continuous improvement efforts, in partnership with the Chapter Area Lead Making decisions with commercial acumen and an "at scale mindset" Understanding and supporting adjustments to resourcing needs If this sounds like the role for you then we would love to hear from you.
