Description
Ensure growth targets are achieved through development of FAA/EASA/CAAC approved repairs. Coordinate with all functional and service groups to meet customer requirements, drive performance, achieve or exceed financial plans, and execute strategic goals. Ensure all engineering activities are executed in alignment with all applicable FAA and other regulatory agency requirements. Conduct project reviews as needed to ensure acceptability and manufacturability of product. Manage and execute the development of new repair design processes and equipment. Evaluate figures, drawings, and step-by-step instructions to repair various aircraft components. Evaluate technical data to substantiate repair instructions including stress analysis, free body diagrams, flight safety and failure analysis, and showing compliance to applicable regulations. Develop and execute new regulatory approvals with various government regulatory agencies. Develop technical relationships with key end customer R&O personnel. Maintain close liaison with the repair station functions during the development of new repairs. Provide ongoing support to resolve design related production problems and non-conformance to product repairs specifications. Review project/task and departmental operating expenses to ensure they are kept to a minimum and within budget. Promote and coordinate design and drafting activities with the Batam based Engineering Services Team and EIEC (Pune, India) Engineering Team. Review customer returned units, identify the problem and guide the team to implement the corrective action. Initiate and promote generation of new ideas and document appropriately for possible future patent application and protection. Coordinate development of new manufacturing capabilities through process development and capital purchasing. Evaluate equivalencies for tooling and consumables to support repair activities. Focus on managerial concerns of projects such as cost, completion date, and resource allocation. Participate in or lead corrective action teams, continuous improvement projects, and/or capital projects as requested. Bachelor's degree in Engineering from accredited institution. Minimum of three (3) years engineering experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future. This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Beltsville, MD will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Minimum of five (5) years engineering experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment. Experience in a manufacturing environment requiring compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations for a Repair Station. Experience with reading and interpreting government rules and regulations. Experience with ducting design, manufacturing methods (in-house and sub-contracted), assembly equipment, testing and material science. Experience with gauging, SPC, APQP, and quality assurance systems (ISO 9001, AS9100) and/or FAA Repair Station experience. Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Six Sigma methodology, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), tolerance allocation and lean manufacturing methods. Must comply with DOT drug testing requirements due to Repair Station Certificate responsibilities. Experience with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project. The ability to effectively supervise people and motivate subordinates, while maintaining organizational harmony and meeting scheduled deadlines. Experience with AS9100, AS9102, and continuous improvement tools (8D, FMEA, process flow diagrams). Prior experience managing a Part 145 repair station or similar operation. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and regulatory documentation. Experience with Material Review Board and Corrective Action Board functions.
